HURON, SD (June 4) - For the second time in just three days, Jason Krohn
found his way to PolyDome Dirt Track Series victory at Dakota State
Speedway during Challenge Cup XVI on Saturday.

The victory gave Krohn a sweep of the OneMain Financial WISSOTA Late
Model Challenge Series events at the Huron track and earned him the top
prize of $10,000.

“I came here knowing if everything goes my way we could do well, but I
don’t take anything for granted,” Krohn said of recording the
back-to-back wins, which netted him a total of $15,000 in winnings.
“Thursday night I came out of nowhere and we had a good car, and we had
another good run tonight.

“I appreciate Orville paying and having us here,” he said.

Krohn was the highest ranked driver out of 18 to earn spots in the
40-lap feature after a pair of heat races for each of them. The strong
showing in heat races earned him the pole position and the rest was
history; he pulled away from the rest of the field for the victory.

Although he rebuilt a sizeable advantage during the final 16 laps,
Krohn’s focus was on care of his tires to reach the finish. Chad
Williamson, A.J. Diemel, and Brian Diede took turns in second, but all
exited the race early with tire issues.

Jeff Provinzino took second from Diede as three laps remained and took
the runner-up spot. Jake Redetzke was third followed by Jeffrey
Massingill and Pat Doar.

Krohn, Provinzino, defending Challenge Cup champion Scott Ward,
Williamson and Diemel recorded Late Model heat wins.

Corey Nelson, Jordan Heiman and Marshall Fegers B-Main wins.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were also in action. The 20-lap feature
was similiar to the Late Models. Adam Brotherton led from start to
finish and earned the win.

Brotherton, who started fifth, drove to the front of the field on the
opening lap and built more than a half-lap lead before the first of
three cautions flew on lap 11.

After two more cautions during the ensuing restarts, Brotherton fought
off a brief challenge by Lorin Johnson before he stretched his lead back
and earned his seventh career feature win at his hometown track.

Johnson finished second followed by Brock Hess, Brad Kopecky and Kyle
Knouse.

Heat wins in the Midwest Modified division went to Kopecky, Bill
Leimbach, Johnson and Knouse.

Andy Johnson took the B-main victory and Pollock finished second.

Racing returns to Dakota State Fair Speedway at 7 pm Saturday with
WISSOTA Late Models, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds and
Street Stocks in action.
