Wissota Late Model Challenge Series
25th Anniversary Challenge Series Season Kicks Off This Weekend
The silver anniversary season of the Structural Building WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series fires off this Friday and Saturday nights with a Minnesota doubleheader featuring a $5,000-to-win lid lifter at the I-94 emr Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN on Friday, May 19th and then a $2,000 top prize awaits the victor on Saturday night, May 20th at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN in what should be a very popular opening weekend for the WISSOTA-sanctioned series.
Not only will there be big money on the line, but the chase for the 2023 series title begins this weekend as well with a massive $10,000 check awaiting the series champion at season’s end.
Six previous series events have been held at the I-94 facility with no driver repeating their efforts to get to victory lane thus far. Pat Doar, the series most recent winner in Fergus Falls last season, leads the list of prior series winners, which also includes Jimmy Mars, Steve Laursen, John Kaanta, Jake Redetzke and track owner Don Shaw. Doar will be looking to go back-to-back in season openers in his potent #11. WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Short Trackers will also be in competition.
Ogilvie has hosted ten prior series events dating back to 2010 and has seen Brady Smith, Adam Hensel and Jimmy Mars each visit victory lane twice at the Wagamon family-owned facility. John Kaanta, Don Shaw, Pat Doar and defending series champion Cole Searing, who won the series lone visit in 2022, are also on the win list.
Other classes that will be in competition include WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets.
Racing is schedule to begin at 7pm on Friday night, at 6:30pm on Saturday night and both events will be livestreamed on WISSOTA.tv for those unable to be at the track in person to enjoy the action.
